PlayStation Network sub accounts can now be upgraded to master accounts



PSN: Upgrade Sub Accounts to Master Accounts

Starting today, PlayStation Network (PSN) users will gain the ability to upgrade a sub account to a master account. We’re always listening to user feedback, and this is a feature that many of you have asked for. You’ll be able to upgrade an account first through the web and later through PlayStation 4. Instructions on how to start this process through the web can be found here.

In case you aren’t familiar, sub accounts allow users under the age of 18 to access PSN while letting parents or guardians manage their online experience. A variety of PSN features can be limited through sub accounts including messages, monthly spending limits, and gameplay broadcasts. Additional information is available on our Knowledge Center, here.

If you were on a sub account and turned 18 (Happy belated birthday!), you may want to upgrade to a master account to access the full feature set of PlayStation’s online experience, including PlayStation Store. Your profile will be carried over when upgrading to a master account, along with items like your friends list and Trophies.

Resogun developer working with Defender creator on new project



Housemarque and Eugene Jarvis working together!

Legendary game developer Eugene Jarvis (the man behind Defender, Robotron, Smash-Tv...) is combining forces with the Housemarque team (Resogun, Dead Nation, Super Stardust HD/Delta, Alienation).

On Feb. 12th in Helsinki, Finland, Eugene and the Housemarque guys got together and chatted a bit about the state of gaming, specifically about arcades and old school gaming in general. This panel featuring Eugene, Harry Krueger (Resogun Lead), and Mikko Hyppönen (CRO of F-Secure and arcade enthusiast) will be available on the Housemarque YouTube Channel as soon as possible.

Along with his friendly visit to Finland, Eugene announced that he is working on a brand new game with the Housemarque team.

This is Eugene’s first co-operation with an outside game developer since working with Midway Games (Cruis’n USA, 1994). A quote from the man himself:

“When I saw Resogun I couldn’t believe how these Housemarque guys took Defender to a new level. I wondered... what would happen if we teamed up? Mash up old school arcade with mad voxel tech and crazed nouveau Helsinki gamers... All I know now is that it is going to be explosive”.

Arcade games have been very close to Jarvis since he started creating them in 1982 with Robotron. Raw Thrills, his company, is on the forefront of contemporary arcade culture with sizeable gaming hits such as the Big Buck Hunter franchise.

This new venture is in essence Housemarque making a game with one of their all-time heroes.

More details about the game will be released in the upcoming months.

Helldivers Launches March 3 on PS4, PS3 & Vita








Prepare for War: Helldivers Launches March 3rd

Arrowhead Game Studios, in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), today signed the Declaration of War between Super Earth and the intergalactic alien threat.

WE ARE NOW PREPARING FOR WAR.

With immediate effect from March 3rd, 2015, Helldivers are to be dispatched to the front lines of PS4, PS3 and PS Vita systems.

The Federation has decided that the bug threat is becoming too great. Senator John W. Killjoy declared that “The bugs have been a plague in this galaxy for far too long, they must now be eradicated before they spread to other worlds.”

With the Helldiver troops spearheading the assault we are confident of success.

SUPER EARTH NOW CALLS FOR THE IMMEDIATE RECRUITMENT OF MORE HELLDIVERS.

All hope relies upon the success of the Helldivers: the only chance for the survival of Super Earth. Expect an action packed, cross-play, all out shooter.

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines Coming to PS Vita Next Month





Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines Coming to PS Vita on March 3rd

It’s been a long time since we’ve brought you any news on Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines, but I’m excited to announce that this unique JRPG will be available as a digital download on PS Vita via PlayStation Store for $19.99 starting on March 3rd!

So what does Oreshika bring to fans of the genre? Well, first of all there’s the striking graphic style. Set in ancient Japan, the game art delivers a rich world inspired by traditional brush paintings of the Heian era. You’ll be exploring a beautiful, watercolor world filled with weird and wonderful creatures based on Japanese mythology. Oh, and we’ve kept the fantastic Japanese voiceover which fits in with the atmosphere perfectly.

The gameplay is quite unique, too. In Oreshika, you’ll take control of a clan whose bloodlines have been struck with two terrible curses — a Curse of Ephemerality, and a Curse of Broken Lineage.

The Curse of Ephemerality means that your clan members age rapidly with a maximum lifespan of around 2 years. As you explore labyrinths, defeat demons, and find treasures, the clock of in-game time is always ticking so it’s important to plan your moves strategically. In Oreshika, no matter how skilled you are in battle or how strong your equipment is, your characters will face death and so it’s your job to make sure your clan’s family tree grows new members to step up to the ranks.

But therein lies the catch as the Curse of Broken Lineage means that your clan members can no longer procreate… Luckily you can turn to the gods for help. By performing the Rite of Divine Union with a god, a new clan member will be created. It’s important to choose carefully which gods you perform the Rite with as the genetic makeup will be a combination of the ‘parent’ clan member and the chosen god which affects stats as well as appearance. And with well over 100 gods to meet in game, there are a lot of deities to discover!

And while we’re on the topic of gods, I should mention that for a period of two weeks from launch, you’ll receive the gods Kiri no Mashū and Tonkararin as a special bonus when you purchase the game! So make sure you don’t miss out on this chance to bag these two rare gods that can’t otherwise be unlocked through gameplay.
