PlanetSide 2 Closed Beta Hits PS4 January 20th

The PlanetSide 2 Closed Beta for PS4 is starting this month — January 20th, to be exact! The development team has been hard at work refining, optimizing, and creating an amazing console version of PlanetSide 2 on PS4, and we can’t wait to get it into your hands.

We’ll be using this beta period to test our servers, performance, and various other aspects of the game, and we also want you to share constructive feedback on PlanetSide 2. How does the game look and feel? Is navigating through the menus intuitive and utilizing DualShock 4 in the best way? All players in the Closed Beta will have access to our special Beta forums, which will be the primary location for development interaction and feedback. We want the massive battles to make your heart pound and adrenaline pump, so share your thoughts with us.

If you haven’t done so already, make sure you opt in by email for a chance to participate in the Closed Beta. You can sign up through our website. To ensure the most positive gameplay experience, we will invite a few thousand players into the Beta at the beginning, followed by waves of players throughout the Closed Beta period. Please note players will be invited in chronological order of when they signed up.

I’m sure there are a lot of questions about the Beta that I can’t answer in this blog post, so check out our FFAQ at PlanetSide2.com.

With its massive battles and enormous continents, PlanetSide 2 is a one-of-kind gaming experience, and we are excited to finally bring the world’s largest MMOFPS to PS4 this month.

PS 家族漫画新诠释 好面《Enjoy PS Plus!》连载上线

  继《Let's play PSVITA tv!》之后,友善文创作家好面(iimAn)再度应台湾索尼计算机娱乐(SCET)邀请,绘制介绍网络服务产品「PS Plus」的漫画《Enjoy PS Plus!》,并于 1 月 15 日起上线,进行 4 回的短篇连载。

  诙谐趣味小品为好面擅长的题材,而好面本人也是3C / 电玩产品的重度玩家,由他来诠释全球超过一千万用户的 Play Station 家族成员「PS Plus」的优点可说是非常适合,而好面特有的吹弹可破肉感画风,也为小蓝等女性角色增色不少,成为漫画的卖点之一。

Apotheon Released February 3rd on Steam and PS4

After almost four years of development, we’re proud to finally announce the release date for Apotheon! February 3rd, 2015, for both Steam and Playstation 4. Additionally, Apotheon will be free for the month of February to Playstation Plus members!

The few short delays we’ve had getting Apotheon ready for PS4 has given us a good opportunity for further optimization and playtesting, making Apotheon a better game for everyone. We’re very excited to set it loose it upon the world on February 3rd!

PlayStation Plus Games for February

PlayStation Plus: February’s Free Games

This is a pretty awesome month for PlayStation Plus members with a variety of quality titles across PlayStation platforms entering the service.

On PlayStation 4 you’ll receive one of the coolest games from last year – the critically acclaimed strategy/action RPG Transistor. PS4 owners will also get Apotheon, an action platformer set in Greek mythology, the day it releases on PlayStation Store. PlayStation 3 owners can explore the ins and outs of Tokyo with Yakuza 4 or sneak about The City stealing what you can in Thief. PlayStation Vita owners can see how many generations of champions it takes to beat the quirky Rogue Legacy and jump around as a little boy with a big gun (not so much for shooting enemies as it is launching you around) in Kick & Fennick, which is also releasing day and date in PlayStation Plus.

All of these games will be free for Plus members starting February 3rd. If you want to see these titles in action, check out the video above. When you watch, you may notice that the voice over has changed a bit, and my friend Ryan Clements is narrating instead of me. He’ll be handling the Plus communications from now on, including this post in the future, so thank you guys for all the support over the past couple years!

Sony Online Entertainment has been sold off, rebranded Daybreak Game Studio
Sony 出售《无尽的任务》《H1Z1尸流感》研发商 SOE 改名 Daybreak 将发展包括 Xbox One PC 跨平台游戏


  Sony 集团将旗下知名游戏制作公司,亦为制作万人在线角色扮演游戏 (MMORPG) 始祖之一的《无尽的任务》系列 (EverQuest, EQ) 的 Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) 出售予资产管理公司 Columbus Nova,并更名为 Daybreak Game Company。这间制作公司是由 John Smedley、Brad McQuaid 以及 Steve Clover 发起,并制作了成功定义早期 MMORPG 的《无尽的任务》,而在 1995 年时 EQ 还仅是 Sony Interactive Studios America 内的一项早期项目。

Columbus Nova Acquires Sony Online Entertainment

Columbus Nova, an investment management firm based in New York, announced today that it has completed its acquisition of Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), a recognized worldwide leader in massively multiplayer online (MMO) games and emergent gameplay.

Best known for its community-first approach, and blockbuster hits and franchises, including EverQuest, PlanetSide 2, DC Universe Online, H1Z1, Landmark and the highly-anticipated EverQuest Next, SOE has developed compelling online entertainment for a variety of platforms since 1999.

With the completion of the transaction, SOE will now operate as an independent game development studio and will continue to focus on creating quality online games, providing excellent service to its extensive player base, while centering on its untapped potential as a multi-platform online gaming company. Along with the transaction, SOE will be rebranded and operate under the new name of Daybreak Game Company (DaybreakGameCompany.com)

"Sony Online Entertainment, newly rebranded as Daybreak, is a great addition to our existing portfolio of technology, media and entertainment focused companies. Resogun 'Defenders' DLC launches next week, free 'Challengers' update out today



   







Resogun Defenders Blasts Onto PS4 Feb. 17th

Hey all, Ian Pickles from XDEV Studio Europe here and I’m pleased to announce that Resogun Defenders, the second expansion for Resogun, will be available in a little under a week from now on February 17th for $4.99 and is free of charge to all existing season pass owners.

The Defenders expansion brings with it a huge amount of new content for the game and we’ve worked really hard to make this final expansion a fitting send off for Resogun.

What’s more is that in order to prepare you for the arrival of Defenders, we are pleased to announce that our latest content update, Resogun Challengers will be made available free of charge to all players as of today!

Resogun Defenders takes place during our last stand against the overwhelming Sentient forces. Pushed back to an unknown planet you will take the fight to the bad guys in two all new game modes. Protector and Commando.

Protector Mode sees you taking to the skies to defend one of the last human colonies remaining. Utilize all new power-ups including Super Boost, Teleport, and automatic city defences; take down the enemy and deliver as many of the last humans to each city in order to extend your grip on the planet. Protector Mode features an all new planet flip mechanic and environmental hazards such as volcanic meteors to avoid while fighting off the never-ending enemy invasion.

Commando mode lets you play as the Last Human who was left behind. Stranded on a distant planet with only a mini-gun to defend him he takes the fight directly to the Sentients in the ultimate arcade revenge mode. Jump, boost and equip your favorite bandana as you aim to defend your home from waves of enemies, volcanic meteors and more in this all new mode.

What’s more is that Commando mode supports both cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes. Team up with a friend to fight the good fight or turn against each other to outsmart your opponent and destroy their house from under their nose. We’ve named the competitive mode Battle Mode and hope you have as much fun fighting it out with your friends as we have had here.

Resogun Defenders also includes an all new Trophy set for you to achieve and leaderboards to climb to prove your worth as the best pilot out there.

So as mentioned above we need to update the game to get it ready for the arrival of Defenders and that gives us the opportunity to add a bunch of new content for everyone free of charge while we do it! This brings us to Resogun Challengers, our all new content update launching today for all players.

Resogun Challengers is the largest content update to date for the game and brings with it a new system of player levelling which is achieved by earning Challenge Points as a reward for completing new challenges and feats across all existing game modes.

Challenges task you with playing a specific level or game mode with different rules or modifiers designed to provide a new challenge. Can you rescue 200 humans in a single level if every enemy drops one, or better yet can you complete survival mode using the Super Stardust Ship?

Challenges change things up and give everyone a reason to revisit all Resogun game modes for a new experience.

Performing well will award Challenge Points which will advance your player level higher unlocking rewards and bragging rights.

Alongside the Challenges we have also included Feats. These are long goals that are tracked across all game modes and award Challenge Points for achieving huge milestone goals. Have you rescued a cumulative 1,000 humans or just dodged 13 wrecking balls in Demolition Mode? There’ll be a Feat and reward for that. Only a true Resogun Hero can ever hope to achieve all the Feats but we’re sure you’ll have fun trying.

Human Gallery and Photo Mode

The Resogun Challengers update also contains an all new Human Gallery to organize and select your collected Human types, and the much requested Photo Mode which allows you to pause and capture stunning screenshots of all the voxel based action exploding on screen. We’re looking forward to seeing some of the shots captured by the players.

To top it all off, the Challengers Update also contains a bunch of new Trophies for you to earn — designed around the challenges and feats these will test the skills of even the finest Resogun pilots out there.

Finally I’m happy to announce that for those of you that have yet to play Resogun there has never been a better time. To celebrate the launch of Resogun Defenders we are offering 33% off the retail price of the full game for the next two weeks. Additionally, anyone who purchase the season pass will immediately gain access to our previous expansion, Heroes, and the additional humans available in the store.

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture enters alpha stage



Ladies and Gentlemen, we are at alpha

Well, we made it. Last week we submitted the alpha build for Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture to Sony Santa Monica for build approval and they gave us the big thumbs up. This means we’re hurtling straight towards Beta and then Gold.

In real terms? OK, so it doesn’t get any easier – the back half of development is all go, ramping up detail in all angles, intergrating stuff like crazy, polishing the hell out of anything we can… and the bugs. It’s all about the bugs. So by this point the world is locked, scenes are locked, we know what is happening where and when and why and how, but there’s a big difference between that “it works” and “it’s a great game”, which is where we all want it to be.

QA kicks in hard now, with both Sony’s internal teams and our new in-house QA tech – Foucauld Escaillet, who we’re incredibly happy to welcome onto the team – will be playing the game over and over and over looking for everything from texture seams to places where things could, well, just be tightened up a notch (and there’s always plenty of those). The art team split their time between bug fixing and environmental storytelling; now the world is there in its major components, it’s time to focus on the small details that really sell the sense of place and people.

In a month’s time, Jess hits the studio with orchestra and choir to record what I’m sure will be recognised as her best work to date – a score of incredible power and subtlety – and then together with sound designer Adam she’ll begin the long process of mixing and integration. At this point, all of the audio in the game, including voice-overs and procedurals, gets overhauled, tuned to each other and gently massaged into the immersive soundscape we’re aiming for.

We’ve just wrapped the first instance of a brand new AI system, which I can’t talk about without giving too much away, but together with the effort now going into ambient visual effects is bringing the world to life around us. The stunning voice-overs recorded last year are being fleshed out with visuals and foley, and we’re heading back to the studio in a couple of months to add the last parts of the game in, and there’s some incredibly exciting news headed your way about that in the near future.

Nope, we’re not going to GDC. Nope, we’re not doing any interviews at the moment. Nope, there’s no new trailer or screenshots coming your way for a little while yet. It’s heads down time, the ung[禁止售卖商品]ous bit of development where you just grind away, making it as good as you can - the bit where you understand game development is about craft as much as it’s about art. We’ll surface again sometime around March with more news, but for the moment, we just wanted to let you know where we are, and that we’re making something we’re really proud of. This is going to be our best game yet.
