3D animation novel The Midnight Sanctuary coming to PS4, Switch, and PC this summer

   


Unties will publish Cavyhouse’s 3D animation novel The Midnight Sanctuary for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC this summer, the company announced.

A demo for The Midnight Sanctuary is currently available on Steam. Here is an overview of the game, via the Steam page:

Has the Saint of legend come to this mountain village to bring salvation… or to bring the end? An occult suspense 3D novel game, and a tale that can be experienced through either traditional cinematic storytelling, or with new VR technology.

The newest title from Cavyhouse, developers of This Starry Midnight We Make and Forget Me Not: My Organic Garden, and localized by Carpe Fulgur, the translators of both TSMWM and titles such as Recettear.

Our story takes place in Daiusu Village, an isolated hamlet in Japan built by persecuted Christians. But the Shogunate has given way to the Meiji Restoration, and now the villagers have built a great church and hope to bring new life to their village. Hamomoru Tachibana, our protagonist, visits Daiusu to catalogue its local history and folk tales.

A peaceful village, striving to enter the modern world and remember its past. However, one day a figure appears who seems to be none other than the Saint of the old village legends, and the village changes immediately. The villagers worship the Saint, and Hamomoru does not know how to respond. Are the Saint’s “miracles” real? And what of these people who claim to be “of the Dead”? We hope you will experience Daiusu Village, and its most curious tale, manifested in 3D.

The game client supports both traditional rendered Cinematic Mode, in either windowed or full screen modes, or VR Novel Mode. You can choose your preferred viewing mode when starting the game. The VR Novel is a new form for novel games. The player can, for the first time, experience events from the middle of the stage as the action happens all around them. Enjoy a world of dark folklore, drawn in a fantastical style! The demo version contains the several in-game days of our story.

NightCry for PS Vita launches in 2018



Playism will release the PS Vita version of NightCry in 2018 for 2,296 yen.

The horror game, directed by Hifumi Kono as a spiritual successor to the Clock Tower series, was originally crowdfunded in 2015 with the intention of releasing for PC, smartphones, and PS Vita, but following its PC launch in 2016, the smartphone and PS Vita versions were never released.

Story

A calming cruise, an unexpected horror.

Welcomed aboard a luxurious cruise liner, you are spending your time enjoying this rare opportunity.But at the height of the evening, things are not as they appear as a murder brings it all to a grinding halt. As night falls and a cry echoes out through the ship, the true nightmare begins.

Search for the answers and save yourself and others from a terror you can’t begin to explain.

Key Features

NightCry is a 3D point-and-click adventure game. Click to move your character and search the ship. Interact with objects by selecting them. Make sure you check it all carefully, for the clues you need may not be easy to find.

But searching isn’t all you will be doing. As you search, you will be haunted, and the Scissor Walker will be coming for you.

In Exploration Mode, explore the cruise liner for the answers you seek. Learn about the strange and often gruesome happenings that currently plague the ship, solve the puzzles and seek the route that will lead you to safety.

But be warned, searching through the ship’s secrets will lead you to trouble and frantic escapes are the only way to survive. Run, hide and stay quiet for it is coming, and maybe you will survive long enough to learn the true horrors of this oncoming evil force.

Indie publisher Versus Evil, in partnership with indie developer Stoic, today released the latest character vignette trailer from its current series aimed at highlighting the influential characters which will appear in the release of the final installment of the award winning Viking role playing game, The Banner Saga.

Not much is known about this legendary race but they have proven loyal so far and have stood side by side with humans and varl alike. However, will that change as tensions rise among those forced into Arberrang as the end draws near? Find out this summer when the final installment of the award winning RPG series launches on July 24th for PC, MAC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch.

3D adventure game Giraffe and Annika coming to PS4, Switch in 2019

Giraffe and Annika, the upcoming 3D adventure game made in Unreal Engine 4 from developer Atelier Mimina and publisher Unties, will come to PlayStation 4 and Switch in 2019 following its PC release in 2018, Atelier Mimina announced on Twitter.

Giraffe and Annika is a 3D adventure game for PC where you follow along with the cat eared girl Annika as she explores the mysterious island of Spika.

Each dungeon is guarded by a boss where Annika will need to defeated through a music-based battle system and fully synched animations. The game system and effects are all fully synched with the music.

Help Annika find her lost memories through her adventures on the island!

Giraffe and Annika is planned for release for PC in 2018.

  日本独立游戏开发暨发行商 GameTomo 与《SuperHot》团队 SUPERHOT Team 合作推出新游戏《Superhot JP(暂称)》,玩家将在日本场景中展开新射击体验。

  《SuperHot》是一款拥有时空冻结和子弹时间特色的第一人称射击游戏,运用暂停不动的战术策略,解决敌人。 而近日公开的系列新作《Superhot JP》将沿用《SuperHot》世界观与风格,舞台则搬移到日本,玩家将在温泉、武士城堡、东京小巷口、卡拉 ok、新干线等各个拥有日式风格场景中,与红色敌人们展开枪战对决。

  《Superhot JP》由 GameTomo 开发、SUPERHOT Team 指导。 官方表示,该作品将是一款独立游戏,预计会有 15-18 个关卡和 3-4 个无尽关卡,并加入弓箭等新武器,同时还会收录《SuperHot》原有的模式等。

  《Superhot JP》目前计划推出 PC、PS4 版本,游戏首先会在日本地区推出,接着才可能会在全球释出。

  继今年 2 月首度曝光《轩辕剑》系列续作《轩辕剑柒》研发中游戏画面后,近日大宇信息旗下 DOMO 小组更陆续曝光三张开发中画面,包含机关设计图稿、场景等。

  《轩辕剑柒》由蔡明宏领衔、大宇信息旗下 DOMO 小组制作,游戏利用 Unreal Engine 4 游戏引擎研发,并采用全新动态捕捉系统来加强演绎的真实度。

  《轩辕剑柒》故事以西汉末年之时空为背景,其时各地纷纷揭竿而起,多方政权争斗不休,更有阴谋家藉助神器筹谋野心,使得神州大地哀鸿遍野。 在此乱世中,墨家又将再次走入旋涡中心,扮演左右历史进展的重要角色。

  近日,官方于粉丝页公开开发中场景画面、机关设计图稿,以及战斗画面。 在新曝光的战斗画面中,出现的怪物与首度曝光时相同,而这次将是以不同角度的呈现。

  Experience 公开延续《死印》(PlayStation 4 / Nintendo Switch / PlayStation Vita)的心灵惊悚冒险游戏第二波作品《NG》,将于 2018 年 8 月 9 日在 PS Vit a 平台发售。 价格为实体版 5800 日圆,下载版 5000 日圆(皆为未税价)并于近(12)日,公开本作概要。

  《NG》是以「日式惊悚作品的沉静恐怖」为主轴,展开的心灵惊悚冒险游戏系列,延续系列第一波作品《死印》,一样是惊悚冒险游戏,而惊悚演出的主题则是「日常中的恐怖体验 」。

  另外为了让更多玩家可以享受到游戏乐趣,所以也更进一步挖掘角色特质、加入全新系统,并且强化基本系统的使用方便性。 除了忠实继承《死印》的魅力以外,也是一款角色、舞台都市以及惊悚表现都不同的作品。

本作基本游戏系统继承自《死印》,但如同前面提到的一样,系统面上都有经过更进一步的改进,而且也搭载了全新系统。 透过全新系统,强化了「和鬼怪对峙时的恐怖演出」,以及「日常遭到侵蚀时的恐怖演出」。

  关于前者,是透过名为「生存逃脱(サバイバルエスケープ)」的系统来实现,这是一个在与鬼怪对峙时会使用到的系统。

  在《死印》当中,碰上鬼怪只能想办法「打倒」,但是在《NG》里就会演出「逃走」、「改变现况」、「打倒」这一连串动态的流程。 进化成更能够煽动玩家紧迫感和恐惧感,更为重视演出的游戏内容。



  关于后者,则是以「对玩家来说应该很有亲近感的场面」作为基础,采用能够反馈到现实生活当中的恐怖演出。 比如在游戏中记下的恐怖记忆,会让玩家在现实生活中不经意回想起来。

AI在游戏中的应用仍有不少问题,但开发者认为它极具潜力

  人工智能已经成为了今天最热门的话题之一,尽管仍处于发展阶段,但这项技术已经能够在许多领域发挥作用。那么在游戏领域,人工智能能做什么,它又有着什么样的未来?

  近日,在于京都劝业馆举行的 Bitsummit 游戏论坛讨论会上,SIE 全球工作室总裁吉田修平就人工智能在游戏方面的应用,与图形设计师、AI 研究者森川幸人进行了一次讨论。他们认为,虽然现在 AI 还存在着不少问题,但它毫无疑问在游戏领域拥有者广阔的未来。


  由于主要从事幕后工作,森川幸人这个名字对大多数玩家可能并不是非常熟悉,但他参与制作了多款索尼游戏中的 AI,并在去年建立了专注于研究 AI 与游戏的 Morikatron 工作室,可以说是 AI 与游戏方面的专家。

  森川表示,在游戏行业 AI 仍处于发展的早期阶段,AI 的应用仍存在不少难点。首先,AI 的工作大多侧重于给出正确的答案。但在游戏领域,人们并不期待正确答案,而是“有趣的”答案。对于这样一个非常“人性化”的概念,电脑很难进行学习。

  其次,在游戏中,问题通常需要被立即响应,而 AI 需要将大量数据上传至服务器进行分析、得出答案,这在主机上行不通。因此开发者不得不花费大量时间创建编程 AI 的方法,以便直接在主机上由运行在游戏中的游戏代码进行问题的解决。

  但与此同时,AI 也能够发挥正面的作用。森川表示,在 Morikatron 为许多开发商制作 AI 时,其中一个经常要做的工作就是“创造角色”,让他们在战斗场景中,以更自然、更人性的方式作出回应,而不是简单地按照脚本行事。有时候,AI 控制的角色会以无法预测的方式移动,有时甚至会提出未曾预料的战略和策略,并帮助开发者修复错误、改善游戏。

  吉田修平补充道,在一款非常热门的射击游戏中,AI 能够以更高的效率找到作弊者,而在《地平线 零之曙光》的开发过程中,开发团队也曾利用人工智能漫游地图、找出编程中的错误;在游戏开发的商业方面,特别是在移动游戏领域,人工智能也能通过分析大量用户数据,让游戏吸引更多受众。

  对于人工智能在游戏领域的未来,森川认为 AI 已经可以非常有效地模仿人类玩家,因而它能够创造出更接近人类的游戏体验。同时,森川希望为 Unity 等引擎推出 AI 开发工具包,让小型开发者也能在一定程度上使用 AI 系统。

  值得一提的是,Morikatron 工作室在其官网上提到,他们正在为几款游戏的开发做出贡献,说不定在将在的某款大作中,我们就能看到 Morikatron 制作的出色的 AI。
