Next Assassin's Creed is Named Origins, Rumoured to Feature Naval Combat
Under the veil of anonymity, Ubisoft sources have approached us to provide fresh details from this year’s Assasin's Creed game.
Previously, the good folks at Kotaku indicated that the project’s working title was Assassin’s Creed Empire, and that it would take place in Egypt. Since then, we’ve received new information that suggests the game is now called ‘Assassin’s Creed Origins’ and is currently scheduled to be revealed at E3 2017.
Our sources suggest that Origins is a vast open world experience taking place in ancient Egypt. The story is rumoured to revolve around the original assassin’s guild and will feature two main characters - a man and a woman.
Its structure is said to be less linear, featuring a character progression system less tied to the story. A development source we spoke to compared it numerous times to Bethesda’s Skyrim. They say that impressions of the project internally are so far positive.
The game will apparently grant the player considerably more freedom, featuring a greater emphasis on exploration over previous entries in the series. One source tells us that this is the biggest Assassin’s Creed the company has ever created and is “huge” in scope. They say that it has been in development for “at least” several years now.
Not only is Origins rumoured to boast an explorable ancient Egypt, players will also apparently be able to go beyond it - possibly even as far as Greece. We were told that boats will return in the game, allowing the player to sail the Mediterranean. Naval combat, naturally, is also said to be included.
Another source linked with Ubisoft described to us an internal video they were shown of a teaser for Origins. It apparently began by showing scenes of Egypt, before transitioning between different periods and locations throughout history, including an Asian country, WW2 era France, and a modern day Abstergo Industries facility. It isn’t yet clear whether this video, a blend of gameplay footage and CGI, will be shown to the public in its current form.
Assassin’s Creed Origins is currently set to launch in fall 2017.

Today, Ubisoft and South Park Digital Studios announced that South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be available on October 17th 2017. From the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and developed by Ubisoft San Francisco, The Fractured But Whole is an outrageous sequel to 2014’s award-winning title, South Park: The Stick of Truth and will release on Xbox One, PlayStation4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC.

The new swirl is an evolution of our existing logo that marks a new era for Ubisoft, one with an increased focus on live and digital games as well as a player-centric approach to creating immersive worlds.
As you can see, things have changed a little over the years:
It all started in 1986 with this rad design – a look inspired by the distinct visual style of the ’80s. At the time, Ubisoft was a local distributor of video games.
Nine years later, Rayman was born and Ubisoft introduced the rainbow. This marked the company’s shift from distributor to creator, and highlighted the fact that Ubisoft was creating mainly family-oriented content.
In 2003, the swirl appeared on the scene and once again signaled a shift. It followed the acquisition of Red Storm and the creation of new Tom Clancy titles, marking a more mature and diversified approach.
Today, we create worlds – worlds that live as video games, comics, movies, TV shows, books, and amusement park rides. Our new logo is minimalist, modern and monochromatic. It’s a window into our worlds, giving a preview of what’s to come by highlighting the artistry that goes into creating them. The swirl and the letter O are both deliberately created to be reminiscent of hand-drawn shapes and represent our human qualities of enthusiasm, curiosity and the grain de folie that Ubisoft is known for.
With this new look, we proudly embrace our role as a creator of worlds and invite you, the players, to continue playing, engaging, and growing with us. As we move towards our most exciting time of the year (E3!), you will see this new emblem take on the colors and textures of our worlds, and we can’t wait to hear what you all think.
Ubisoft announced Steep expansion “Road to the Olympics” during its E3 2017 press conference. It will launch on December 5 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Having given players the chance to ski, snowboard, paraglide, and wingsuit around the massive open worlds of the Alps and Alaska, Steep is planning a trip to new locations to take on new challenges in honor of the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. In partnership with the International Olympic Committee, Steep Road to the Olympics will let players loose in South Korea and Japan to participate in Olympic events and explore gorgeous new environments. Road to the Olympics will release on December 5 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Additional information on bundled versions of the game will be coming soon.
It wouldn’t be the Olympics without official Olympic events, so the expansion will include Downhill, Slopestyle, Halfpipe, Giant Slalom, Super G, and Big Air. There will also be some unique challenges to keep things fresh as you choose a country to represent and test your skills against players around the world. And for those thirsty for the legendary powder of Japan, there will be plenty of space to find your own lines, set challenges for your friends, record your highlights, and share them with the Steep community.
The Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Winter Games don’t kick off until next February, but Steep fans will be able to drop into the competition when Steep Road to the Olympics comes out for PC, PS4, Xbox One on December 5.
