VVT-i就是Variable Valve Timing-intelligent的簡稱,是獨家研發的氣門作動時間控制機構作動與控制的原理主要在於進氣凸輪軸的驅動端部份加入了電磁控制閥,作限定範圍內的無特定點的角度變化,使進氣氣門的開啟與關閉作動時間由引擎電腦來發號命令而加以控制。
引擎監察系統會自動判斷檔位、油門深度、引擎負載狀況、引擎轉速等條件(高轉速時進氣汽門提前開啟、延後關閉,以獲得充足的空氣),經由引擎控制電腦的運算之後而發出指令,以連續無段變換方式調整進氣氣門的作動時間,再加上引擎在各種運轉狀態下所需要的空氣進氣量,使引擎的進排氣效率受到控制,因而讓進入引擎燃燒室之中的汽油與空氣混合氣體能夠達到最適當的比例,使引擎在低轉速時就能夠擁有大扭力的輸出,降低引擎運轉時的震動、降低油耗、減低廢氣排放,油門踩踏時的動力反應亦達到最理想化的狀態。
VVTL-i
VVTL-iVariable Valve Timing and lift with intelligent的簡稱,與vvt-i不同,它采用了類似于本田i-VTEC的原理,比原來vvt-i發動機上的凸輪軸多了可切換不同角度的凸輪,利用搖臂的機置來決定是否頂到高角度或低角度的凸輪,做到可連續式的改變氣門正時,重疊時間與兩階段式的升程。vvtl-i技術結合了vvt-i的連續式可變正時與重疊角,與i-VTEC式的凸輪軸切換,具有功率大和扭矩曲線高而平的優點。
