Caught on AES camera: Maserati race up to 268 km/h (with Ferrari not far behind)
The Automated Enforcement System (AES) cameras have captured the most flamboyant traffic offenders so far.
Less than 40 days after the automated system was launched, a Maserati GranTurismo was caught speeding at 268 km/h by the AES speed camera at KM301.9 PLUS highway (north-bound) before the Kajang exit.
Few days later, the safety camera has also captured a bright red Ferrari travelling at 243 km/h on PLUS Expressways (north-bound) at KM376 near Slim River, Perak.
Probably, the two supercar drivers have officially earned themselves as the fastest speed demons ever recorded into the country's authority enforcement system.
For the record, the speed limits on PLUS Expressways near the Kajang interchange is 90 km/h while the Slim River north-bound stretch is set at 110 km/h.
Road Transport Department (RTD) assistant director (enforcement) Ahmad Nasir Abdul Gani has confirmed that both marquee cars were caught unmistakably at breakneck speed by the cameras.
