PS4 won’t let you see Trophies, Friends list while offline
PlayStation 4 users will not be able to view their Trophies or Friends lists in offline mode.
In order to check out Trophies, the PS4 must first sync with Sony’s servers, and syncing does not take place in the background. This is unlikely the PlayStation 3, which allows users to view Trophies whenever they please.
When attempting to load up Trophies while offline, you’ll be presented with the following error:
[Connect to the Internet] is turned off.

The Friends list also operates quite a bit differently compared to the PlayStation 3. There’s simply no possible way to view the list offline. The same goes for the PlayStation App, which does not allow friends, Trophies, or even your own profile to be seen if the data connection and Wi-Fi are disabled.

PS4 price drops won’t take place as regularly as they did for PS3
Because the PlayStation 3 was fairly expensive, Sony cut the console’s price perhaps more commonly than what is typical with most hardware. If you remember, the system originally costed $599 at launch.
The PS4 is in a much different situation. It’s priced at $400 – a much more reasonable entry price – meaning price cuts won’t happen as regularly.
Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida told GamesIndustry:
“Our hardware teams have chosen more standardized components to create PlayStation 4 and that’s contributing to our launch price of $399 versus $599 for the PS3. Because we’re already using more standardized components, the room for costs to come down might actually be slower than when we were starting with cutting edge stuff.”
“When we need to source components to get more supply to the retailers, that approach definitely helps compared to some cutting edge component that only one manufacturer can produce, like Blu-ray or the Cell processor. Those were big bottlenecks. It’s much better this time.”

No need to worry about PS4′s red power indicator
Some PlayStation 4 users have come across a red power indicator on the console. Furthermore, a handful of new owners have had concerns about the light being an indication that their system is in trouble of sorts.
Really though, there’s no need to worry. The red indicator is simply an indication that the PS4 is overheating. While the hardware itself will likely be fine in most cases, it may be a good idea to give the console a short rest.

EA puts up notice claiming PS4′s launch firmware causes instability issues, later says it was posted in error
Several hours ago, EA put up a page on its support site making note of PlayStation 4 instability issues stemming from system update version 1.50. The note – since updated – mentioned that the firmware is the cause of “stability issues while playing games on the system.”
It continues:
“This affects all games on the PS4, including EA titles, causing crashing/freezing and non-responsive connections between the player’s console and their TV Screen.”
“Unfortunately since it’s an issue with Sony’s firmware, it requires a new update to fix it. Sony is working to resolve the issue as quickly as they can. They will update their System Update page as new versions are made available, and we will keep this page updated as we find out more.”
After EA’s page was discovered, it was updated with the following message:
The message on EA’s Help site was posted in error. Players with questions about PS4 connectivity can visit
https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5102 for the latest updates.
Definitely a strange situation the whole way around. You have to wonder why the page actually went live in the first place… was it truly just an error?
