We must read newspaper to improve our language..associates more with friends in different races,so that we can speak fluently.. : )
Nothing is impossible..As a youngster,we should occupy ourselves with more skills and to speak confidently,this is for our own good in preparing us to face the challenges in the future!

erm i learnt English in ELS last year, and i knew the difference between HAS/HAVE BEEN and HAD BEEN. Found an example in google and let's share it here.


I have been playing the piano for nearly 50 years.
The implication is that playing the piano is a past action that is continuing. (still doing it until now)

I had been a graphic artist before beginning my career as an architect.
The implication is that work in graphic arts was completed at some time in the past before something else took place.

I hope you all can get this well~ i have learnt several grammar during the classes in ELS, would like to share it here gradually ~ Grammar is quite important in english speaking, it might create misunderstanding if you use it wrongly. I am not that perfect in grammar , hopefully we can practice it more here together~

hehe, personal experience:

When I was doing my STPM, I tried to read English newspaper. When I first started, I used to buy the Sunday version of the newspaper (more content!) , and I have to use 1 week to finish one newspaper. Just pick any article that you like, try to read it and check for vocabulary that you couldn't understand.

As I were feeling more confident after 6 months, I tried to read Harry potter. It was kind of difficult, but I ended finish all 5 books in English =)

Then the next thing is I force myself to listen to English Radio Stations. Furthermore, I tried to refrain myself from reading the translations shown in the movie.

one more tip, as much as I agree that grammar is important, try not to get to caught up with grammar first. It is boring to learn grammar, but it is not boring to be able to read English articles and speak some English.

i think i hv only small opportunity cause i hv poor spm result and having a not so good eng result in my uec exam(independent secondary school...)
