Do you prefer American English or British English?

That's Broad Australian accent. The majority of Australians don't speak with that accent though.

There are three main varieties of Australian accents: Broad, General and Cultivated.

General Australian English is spoken by the majority of Australians. When you watch Australian films or TV programs, you are most likely to hear General Australian accent.

Cultivated Australian English is similar to British Received Pronunciation (the so-called Queen English or BBC English).

I beg to disagree.

Australian English is quite different from any accent existing in England although it's vowels do reflect Cockney influence.

I really wonder how many of those here who claim to prefer British or American accent know that there is no single British or American accent. There are a wide variety of regional accents and dialects spoken in every English-speaking country, especially the UK and the USA.

Yea,i agree with you that there are a wide variety of regional accents and dialects spoken in every English-speaking country, especially the UK and the USA.But i beg to disagree that Australian English is quiten different compare to British accent,i had watched the film AUSTRALIA and tons of British Art film...i do found that their accent are quite "similar"

we usually using british english..
because of the history of m'sia..
i dislike malay, my history fail bcoz its in malay........

When my mom in secoudary,they still using english for all the subject.......
But now our GOV keep changing the style of our edu....
we like mice..... Can keep on testing,important is we are F.O.C.....

Quite weird...
We using british spelling,but american pronounsation(did i spell it right?sry poor in spelling.)
Their slang totally different!!
I have relative in america n england.. America slang we can understand better than England slang...
If Australian with their auzy slang, i cant understand even a sentence/sentense..


Please correct me when my spelling wrong...
Learning proper spelling,so pls dun write too much short forms..

I prefer to Local English--

Easy undesrstand and can comunication with anyone,everybody
