If you’ve wanted to use a Xbox controller wirelessly with an older Windows machine, or just one that hasn’t received any Windows 10 update love, then you’re in luck. As Major Nelson reports on Twitter, Microsoft has added Windows 7 and 8.1 support for the Xbox Wireless Adapter.
In case you don’t know, the Xbox Wireless Adapter has the following features:
◾Connect your Xbox Wireless Controller to Windows computers
◾Use it with PC games and Xbox One games streamed to Windows 10 machines
◾Supports up to 8 wireless controllers, and up to 4 chat headsets or 2 stereo headsets
◾Includes USB extender cable
So, now you have one less reason to upgrade to Windows 10, eh? Not that Microsoft is going to make it easy to stick with an earlier version of Windows.
The Xbox Wireless Adapter is listed for $24.99 at the Microsoft Store, but it’s currently out of stock. You can also get it for $29.95 from Amazon, in stock and shipping in time for Christmas.
