FF VII Remake runs on Unreal Engine 4, all parts will have the size of a full game

在 2015 年六月举办的美国 E3 展首度曝光,并在 PlayStation Experience 2015 发表会中进一步释出开发中影像的经典游戏《Final Fantasy VII》完全重制版,官方公布本游戏标题正式定名为《Final Fantasy VII Remake》。 原生版《Final Fantasy VII》在 1997 年在 PlayStation 发售,以当时最先端的 3D 技术展现的游戏画面、壮阔的世界观和动人的角色魅力,让这套游戏在全世界累积了 1100 万套的销售。
根据 SQUARE ENIX 官方公开的消息表示,将在 PlayStation 4 重生登场的《Final Fantasy VII Remake》,将会以现今的技术水平全部重新制作。 但因原版的《Final Fantasy VII》游戏份量十分庞大,在为了维持游戏的密度和份量的考虑下,《Final Fantasy VII Remake》将会以多部曲的方式「分拆」推出。 根据官方表示,这也是为了可以让玩家尽早抢先游玩到本作。 比起 1997 年版,Remake 也会追加更多细节的描写,同时追加当年因为各方考虑而删除掉的部分,最终的 Remake 游戏全体会呈现比旧作更庞大的份量。
而关于拆分为几部曲、每款单片游戏的剧情份量以及游戏售价为何? 目前皆还尚未公开。
另外,根据北濑佳范以及野村哲也两位 SQUARE ENIX 制作人在访谈中的发言,《Final Fantasy VII Remake》并不会沿用已问世 10 年的「降临神子」3D 模块,而是会针对新游戏重新建模。 并会针对「非现实性」和「现实性」之间作出更佳的平衡调整。 包含影片中现身、相形消瘦的克劳德也是配合剧情的情境作出微调。 还有初期的队伍成员造型也全部翻新,和降临神子中登场的样貌皆不同。
关于战斗系统,也将和前传的《Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-》采用完全不同的战斗系统,将设计以 ATB 战斗为基础,属于 FF7 Remake 的独特动作性战斗体验。 战斗的逻辑和节奏感会比较接近大型电玩版的《Dissidia Final Fantasy》。
PS4《Final Fantasy VII Remake》上市日期尚未公开。
Unreal Engine 4 Powering Final Fantasy VII Remake Development
Epic Games is proud to announce today that Final Fantasy VII Remake is created with Unreal Engine 4. Square Enix fully unveiled the game onstage during PlayStation Experience 2015 this weekend, giving everyone a first look at one of the most celebrated games ever made, at last redone with high-fidelity graphics to match its lively and emotive story and cast of characters. The highly anticipated remake of the role-playing game was first unveiled earlier this year during E3 2015.
“We realize how special Final Fantasy VII is to fans, and we place our trust in Unreal Engine 4 technology and tools to help deliver this long-awaited remake, crafted for modern platforms,” said Yoshinori Kitase at Square Enix. “Working with the team at Epic and having their support throughout this process was invaluable and we’re excited to bring the product of that collaboration to long-time fans and newcomers to the series.”

First released in 1997 on the PlayStation computer entertainment system, Final Fantasy VII is universally regarded as a hallmark title of the RPG genre. The original title received high praise for its epic storyline, unique characters, and movie sequences that utilized the most cutting-edge technology of the time. Since then, the game has sold over 11 million copies worldwide and continues to receive widespread acclaim from critics and fans around the world. The popular game has been extended with spin-offs, films, and merchandise.
It means instead of concluding in one entry, multiple entries are being considered in development. Each entry will have its own unique story. As a gaming experience, each entry will have the volume of content equal to a full-sized game.

由 SQUARE ENIX 研发系列作品《Final Fantasy VI》故事背景被设定在一个科技与幻想世界,此时空的人类与幻兽各自居住于人界与幻兽界,彼此互相没有往来。
《Final Fantasy VI》在推出 iOS / Android 版本后,PC 版本也预定于本月在 Steam 上线,将支持英文、法文、意大利文等七国语言, PC 硬件需求也同步公开。

Final Fantasy VI to arrive on Steam next week
PC Gamers have more to look forward to this holiday season as Square Enix Ltd., today announced that Final Fantasy VI, the highly rated and widely popular sixth instalment of the legendary Final Fantasy will arrive on Steam on the 16th December.
Final Fantasy VI brings a dramatic tale of friendship and self-discovery, and recounts the epic journey of Terra Branford, a powerful woman with a mysterious past. Innovations included the ability to play all the main characters as the game's protagonist, and to this day, its epic story intertwining each of their fates is still highly regarded.
Final Fantasy VI for PC will feature graphics previously recreated by veteran character designer Kazuko Shibuya, as well as updated controls and optimised active-time battle system for fluid PC combat. The title will also include Steam achievements and Trading cards.
Final Fantasy VI will be available for PC for the very first time from the 16th December for £ 10.99.Those who purchase during the first week of launch will also receive a 10% discount.

For many years, people around the world have asked me “Will you ever remake Final Fantasy VII?” For many years I gave the same answers and on a personal level, having made the original Final Fantasy VII, did I really want to spend so many years making the same game again?
With Final Fantasy VII Remake, we have the opportunity to go beyond the story, world and experience of Final Fantasy VII in ways we’ve always dreamed of - from the depths of Midgar to the skies above the Planet. The multi-part format enables us to expand the original story and turn it into an epic experience for fans and new gamers alike.
This past weekend at PlayStation Experience we were thrilled to present more of Final Fantasy VII Remake. It was great to see so much excitement when we surprised everyone with the first gameplay footage and it was a treat for us to show that development is going well, and further along than perhaps many had realised. Just like when we revealed the announcement trailer at E3 earlier this year, we like surprising you.
One thing that we wanted to be clear about during this weekend to accompany the new trailer was the scale of this project. We wanted to tell you this now and not in the future so that you’d share our vision for what we want to deliver.
The biggest reason why we haven’t done a remake until now is because it’s a massive undertaking to reconstruct Final Fantasy VII from the ground up with the current technology. Producing a proper HD remake of Final Fantasy VII that maintains the same feeling of density of the original would result in a volume of content that couldn’t possibly fit into one instalment.
We’ve seen everyone’s comments and reactions to the news that Final Fantasy VII Remake will be a multi-part series and many have speculated correctly as to the reason why we have made this decision. If we were to try to fit everything from the original into one remake instalment, we would have to cut various parts and create a condensed version of Final Fantasy VII. We knew none of you would have wanted that.
I hope that by explaining a little more about our design decisions that you can appreciate the size of this project and what we have planned for this remake. Going beyond the scale and depth of the world, narrative and gameplay from the original to deliver something that feels familiar yet new. As I said before, we like delivering surprises.

Conquer 12 Mighty Eidolons in Final Fantasy Explorers
A new infographic highlighting the 12 eidolons, or summon beasts that appear in Square Enix’s upcoming action role-playing adventure Final Fantasy Explorers released today. The title includes a variety of unique and memorable eidolons from the Final Fantasy series, including Bahamut, Ifrit and Ramuh, as well as two brand-new eidolons, the flower-like Dryad and the mysterious Amaterasu.
In Final Fantasy Explorers, adventurers can battle the 12 formidable eidolons solo or in a party of up to four players. Once players defeat an eidolon, they are granted the ability to summon them in battle while in Trance Mode, a temporary ability where players can also transform into other legendary characters from the Final Fantasy series.
After the main story is completed, players looking for a challenge will have the opportunity to battle aberrant versions of each eidolon which are significantly tougher in battle than their original counterparts and feature a different design.
