柔佛古庙游神已有至少143年历史，并在去年被列入马国非物质文化遗产。主办单位因此希望，把这项活动申请列入世界非物质文化遗产。主办单位估计今年吸引30万人次共赴这场盛会，让参与游神的人数再创新高。成功凝聚新山潮州、福建、广肇、客家与海南等五帮会馆等华团的柔佛古庙游神庆典。马来西亚南方学院教授 郑良树曾发表过：这是最特别，世界上没有第二个有这样的情况。
Johor Bahru Old Chinese temple annual Chingay procession has a history of more than 143 years. In 2012, Chingay procession was listed in Intangible Cultural Heritage of Malaysia (The China Press, 2013). The annual Chingay has attracted more than 300,000 people to march around the major roads of Johor Bahru together with the 5 Deities being worshiped together in the Old Temple. This situation is only found in Malaysia, but not any part of the world.
