Ubisoft officially announced Assassin’s Creed Origins during the Microsoft E3 2017 press conference. It will launch worldwide for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 27. It will also support PlayStation 4 and Xbox One X.
Described as a new beginning for the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Origins is set in Egypt, during a crucial period that will shape civilization. Players control Bayek, a protector of Egypt whose personal story will lead to the creation of the Assassin’s Brotherhood, and plunge into “a living, systemic open world, and discover the secrets behind the Great Pyramids, forgotten myths, the last pharaohs, and – engraved in long-lost hieroglyphics – the origin story of the Assassin’s Brotherhood.”
Here’s an overview of the game, via Ubisoft:
Assassin’s Creed Origins is a brand-new vision for the franchise embracing Action-RPG elements where players level up, loot and choose their abilities to customize their very own skilled Assassin. They will experience a completely new combat system, allowing them to attack and defend multiple enemies at once and equip ultra-rare weapons against unique and powerful bosses. A revamped narrative experience allows total freedom for players to choose and complete quests at their own pace, each telling an intense and emotional story full of colorful characters and meaningful objectives. With an entire country to explore, from deserts to lush oases, from the Mediterranean Sea to the tombs of Giza, players will fight against dangerous factions and wild beasts as they explore this gigantic and unpredictable land.
Additionally, the Deluxe and Gold Editions of Assassin’s Creed Origins were announced. In the Deluxe Edition, gamers will receive the base game, a printed version of the hand-drawn world map, the game’s official soundtrack and the Digital Deluxe Pack, including the Ambush at Sea naval mission, the Desert Cobra Pack and three bonus Ability points. The Gold Edition will include all of the Deluxe Edition Digital content plus the Season Pass. The Season Pass will give players access to all upcoming major expansions and equipment sets. Both Deluxe and Gold Editions will be also available on digital stores. A Gold Edition with a physical Steelbook is also available.
作者: kirassss 时间: 2017-6-10 11:48 AM Assassin’s Creed Origins Game Informer cover story leaked
《刺客信条:起源》发售日提前泄露:10月27日上市
The July 2017 issue of Game Informer has leaked ahead of its planned release, lifting the veil on Assassin’s Creed Origins, its cover story, ahead of the game’s June 12 announcement.
Due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 27 (and optimized for Project Scorpio), Assassin’s Creed Origins has been in production since before Assassin’s Creed Unity. It uses a brand new fighting system with new A.I., and rather than a mini-map features an Elder Scrolls-like compass at the top of the screen. There is no longer a button to sprint, as running speed depends on the analog stick. Crouching will also return, and buttons for free running up and down have been removed. Everything in the game can be climbed, including mountains and rocks. The series’ mainstay Eagle Vision will return, which is done through an eagle named Senu, but is now a subtle pulse that highlights objects rather than enemies. Puzzles will return, but promise to be more challenging and have less switches.
The story is being kept secret for now, but the game is set during the ascent and reign of Cleopatra. The main character is named Bayek, a man in his 30s who starts off as a Medjay (sheriff-type character) before becoming founder of the Assassins Brotherhood, and although he is not the only playable character, the other character is being kept secret. Cities large and small with many landmarks including Memphis and Alexandria will appear. Non-player characters follow a day and night cycle in that there are times that they eat, sleep, work, and “answer the call of nature” (everybody poops). There are also gladiator battles in arenas.
Combat is free-form, more hit box-driven, and free of counters. The right shoulder and trigger buttons are used to attack, while the left shoulder button is used to lock-on. A.I. enemies no longer take turns to attack. An adrenaline gauge builds up as you fight, which can be used to unleash powerful attacks when both attack buttons are pressed. Enemies more powerful than yourself can no longer be one hit-killed with the hidden blade, which the player will have to enhance. Enemy arrows can be deflected with your sheild, and those that stick to the shield can be picked up and added to your inventory. You can also poison dead bodies, lure enemies, and tame animals.
Treasures can be found in the depths of the water, such as in sunken ships you can swim to and long-forgotten ruins you can tomb raid. There are also legendary items that players can loot. The stat element of customization has been removed, meaning you can customize the character’s appearance without it affecting his stats. A new gear system where players can improve specific parts of gear by crafting materials is in place. Two bows or two Merle weapons can be equipped at once, and you can also fire multiple arrows at once—even from a moving camel or horse. The leveling system is capped at level 40. There is also a more in-depth ability graph with three paths (Seer, Warrior, and Hunter).

Assassin’s Creed: Origins – Discovery Tour Shows a Different Side of Ancient Egypt
With Discovery Tour, Assassin’s Creed Origins is using the concept of the Animus Database – long one of the most fascinating parts of the series – as a springboard for an entirely new kind of experience. Where the Database was a collection of educational (and frequently snarky) notes on the important people, places, and events that you encounter in each game, Discovery Tour adds an entirely new game mode that turns the massive re-creation of Egypt into a combat-free living museum, with guided tours that let players delve into its history firsthand.
“This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, that we’ve been asked to do by teachers, by institutions,” says Jean Guesdon, creative director for Assassin’s Creed Origins. “Discovery Tour is another way to enjoy the beauty of the world we’ve recreated. It’s a more educative mode, so it’s clearly focused on education and on bringing to people actual facts, more academic knowledge.”
Separate from the main game, Discovery Tour annotates the game world with dozens of interactive tours curated by historians and Egyptologists. Each focuses on a different subject, including the Great Pyramids, the life of Cleopatra, mummification, and more. Additionally, Discovery Tour lets players roam the entire game world without constraints or threats, exploring a sprawling landscape that includes Memphis, Alexandria, the Sand Sea, and the Giza Plateau at their own pace.
“When you start to tour, you will have a path that will lead you from station to station, in order to learn more,” Guesdon says. “For example, the mummification process, from the cleaning of the body to the removal of the organs, up to the ritual of the opening of the mouth. I hope that teachers will seize this opportunity to present that to their students, so they can learn with this interactive medium.
“We spent years recreating Ancient Egypt, documenting ourselves, validating the content with historians, with consultants, and we feel that many more people than just the players can benefit from that,” says Guesdon.
Discovery Tour will arrive in early 2018 as a free update for Assassin’s Creed Origins, which launches on October 27 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Assassin’s Creed Origins – Tales from the Tomb Blends Comedy and Gameplay
With the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins just a few weeks away, a new series of 10 animated shorts from creative agency Heat is bringing the world of Ancient Egypt to life with a decidedly modern sense of humor. Tales from the Tomb uses scenes re-created from real Ancient Egyptian art to imagine how everyday life might have been affected by the presence of sinister secret Orders and acrobatic Assassins. From a conversation about the use of performance-enhancing mummy dust in gladitorial fights to a glass-bottomed boat tour of the Nile interrupted by a certain Assassin’s underwater antics, each short also includes gameplay footage showing off the world, combat, and characters of Assassin’s Creed Origins.
You can watch every episode of Tales from the Tomb on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel. Assassin’s Creed Origins is coming out on October 27 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

Assassin’s Creed Origins – Stealth, Freedom of Choice, and a Lost City in the Desert
In what might be a series first, Assassin’s Creed Origins pushed me to use all of the tactics at my disposal, without any prodding from the story or mission guidelines. This happened during my latest hands-on session with the game (set in the Nile Delta and Giza Plateau), somewhere around my fourth attempt to free Ghupa, an old man caged at the center of a hilltop camp. Ghupa had been kidnapped after asking too many questions about a shadowy villain known as the Scarab, a member of the mysterious Order of the Ancients whose preferred method of killing involved burying people up to their necks in the desert and leaving them to die. This fate hadn’t yet befallen Ghupa, but for now he was surrounded by a generous handful of guards – all of whom, being several levels above me, could annihilate Bayek without much effort.

I tried storming in and attacking the guards directly. That failed, so I took up a nearby perch and fired remotely guided predator arrows into their heads from hiding. On my next try, I smashed open the cages of captive lions, freeing them to attack the guards for me. The following run saw me hiding in the bushes and trying to stealth-kill my enemies – which, given that I hadn’t yet upgraded Bayek’s Hidden Blade, only wounded one guard before the rest spotted me.
All of these attempts were carried out in broad daylight, and they all ended with Bayek fleeing the area with next to zero health and getting stabbed by a pursuer. Then I tried a new tactic: I found a hiding spot, and with a button press, I passed time until nightfall and watched as the moon rose rapidly over the desert landscape. Then I crept through the underbrush and threw a couple of sleeping darts at the only two guards who had a clear line of sight to the cage. This only knocked them out for a few seconds, but that was more than enough time to open the door, sling the old man over Bayek’s shoulder, and flee into the night before anyone raised an alarm. It was only a small step in the journey that is Assassin’s Creed Origins, but it was as satisfying as any heist.
A New Bag of Ancient Tricks
Moments like these are a big part of what make the free-form gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Origins so compelling. Each mission gives you a set of objectives, and it’s up to you to decide which of your varied tools and tactics to use to achieve them. Sometimes, though, you’re going to encounter enemies that can cut you down with one swing of their axe – and while you’re free to put a mission on hold until you’ve leveled up enough to come back and tear through the opposition, sometimes it’s more fun to find a less-direct method.
If you like doing things quietly, stealth assassinations are still a quick way to take down enemies, so long as you’ve upgraded your Hidden Blade enough to do the necessary damage. Sniping enemies from a distance with Bayek’s arsenal of bows can also thin their ranks quickly, and you’ll even get a preview of how much damage a shot will do while you’re aiming – so if stealth is the goal, maybe don’t take the shot unless it’ll drop your target in one hit. Once you’ve whittled your foes down to a manageable number, you can wade in and confront your enemies directly, using a variety of weapons suited to different tactics; swinging a spear is an excellent crowd-control measure, while rapidly striking and dodging with twin blades lets you outmaneuver slower enemies.
Your path for quelling these threats isn’t as direct as it was in previous games, either. You’ll be directed to informants who will give you handfuls of quests related to the central story, but I also found plenty of new tasks by just wandering around the world. That was the case when I passed an old couple weeping by the side of the road, who asked me to retrieve the bodies of workers from a field overrun by murderous hippos. (This was also a good opportunity to practice pure stealth, as the field was full of high stalks and the hippos were tough.)
This turned out to be more than a single-objective task; after failing to find the body of the couple’s protector, Meketre, I tracked him to a hidden den of a bandit gang, who’d captured him while the hippos were running loose. Then, with Meketre’s help, I rode back to his village and fended off a nighttime raid by those same bandits. The mission was typical of the side quests scattered throughout the world, which tend to start with simple tasks and quickly spiral into something greater, but through it all I kept hearing one word that convinced me to ride out into the desert: Letopolis.
Letopolis turned out to be the highlight of the preview session. A lost city that was being reclaimed thanks to the efforts of Taharqa, Ghupa’s son-in-law, Letopolis was a grand place in spite of its inhospitable surroundings, with massive stone edifices and gleaming villas that had been dug out of the sand by teams of workers hoping for a new life.
Taharqa took a keen interest in Bayek’s search for the Scarab, but was quickly distracted by news of a gang of raiders attacking the ruined parts of the city. Bayek followed Taharqa into a fight through a raging sandstorm, which soon transitioned into a hunt for the surviving raiders in a waterlogged cave hideout. In stark contrast with the lengthy brawl at Letopolis, this attack ended almost before it really began, when I snuck around to a rooftop entrance and performed an air assassination on the raiders’ leader. Sometimes, the old methods are still the best.

The Discovery Tour by Assassin's Creed Transform Ancient Egypt Into an Intreactive Museum
Ubisoft’s Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt is a new educational and entertainment tool, which lets anyone explore the entire interactive 3D recreation of Ancient Egypt in Assassin’s Creed Origins, free of conflict, time pressure or gameplay constraints. The Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt releases on February 20th, 2018 on PS4, Xbox and PC, at no cost for all owners of the Assassin’s Creed Origins game, and it will also be available independently from the game on PC via the Uplay and Steam platforms for £15.99.
From Alexandria to Memphis, the Nile Delta to the Sand Sea, the Giza plateau to the Faiyum Oasis, the Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt lets visitors either explore the rich world of Ancient Egypt at their will or follow the 75 themed tours devised by Ubisoft’s creative teams in collaboration with History experts and Egyptologists.
“With the Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt, we give everyone interested in Ancient Egypt the chance to enjoy its beauty and the realisation that video games can be a source of inspiring knowledge,” explains Jean Guesdon, Creative Director of Assassin’s Creed Origins and the Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt.
Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt is a unique experience at the intersection of entertainment and learning. Interactivity, specific to the world of videogames, is at the heart of the experience, creating strong engagement with the content. This makes the Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt a completely new type of edutainment tool.
“We’ve been in touch with teachers from the very first instalment of Assassin’s Creed games. Many of them already used the games during their History classes but soon came to realise that what they needed was an easily accessible educative tool based in our historical reconstructions,” explains Maxime Durand, in-house Historian at Ubisoft Montreal. “With the Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt, you can visualise and understand thousands of things from Egyptian history in their actual context. As both a game and a learning tool, it is quite a unique asset for teachers to integrate as part of their history classes.”作者: kirassss 时间: 2018-2-21 04:16 PM Ubisoft 在中国推出《刺客教条》主题限量香水「暗影」

Assassin's Creed Origins - Curse of the Pharaohs Lets You Explore a New World, Fight Undead Royalty
Curse of the Pharaohs, the third major expansion for Assassin's Creed Origins, takes Bayek to find a mysterious artifact in Thebes, where he immediately runs into much more than he bargained for. Instead of the mortal and deceitful Order of the Ancients, he finds undead pharaohs materializing in the streets and slaughtering civilians. The Pharaoh's Curse, as the locals call it, likely has something to do with all the grave robbers treating the Valley of the Kings like a strip mine for antiquities, forcing Bayek to hunt down key artifacts linked to each pharaoh in order to put them to rest.
Curse of the Pharaohs' map is a vast new territory filled with surprises. There's Thebes, a massive city that boasts famous sights like the temples of Karnak and Luxor. Across the Nile, you'll find the Valley of the Kings, pitted with the plundered tombs of Egyptian royalty. And as he works to quell the spirits of each restless pharaoh, Bayek finds his way into their individual afterlives, which exist as big, self-contained open worlds connected to portals in their tombs. The Egyptian underworld is dazzling and strange, with exotic loot, majestic barges that float across fields of reeds, and mythical creatures that stand sentry against the living. Keep a careful eye out, or you might have a run-in with the Anubis-like guards that patrol the landscape – or worse, the camel-sized scorpions that make hippos and crocodiles look like stuffed animals.
The afterlife areas are open for fast travel once you discover them, and also work as a crash course in some of the lesser-known sides of Egyptian mythology. For example, did you know that Egyptians believed souls had five separate parts, one of which was a human-faced bird called a "ba?" You will now, because ba are everywhere in the afterlife, and you can even hunt them if you're feeling mean.
Sometimes, threats from the afterlife spill out into the living world, and the Shadows of the Pharaohs are the first and most threatening example you'll encounter. The Shadows are physical manifestations of the undead pharaohs, and every so often, they'll randomly appear as time-limited bosses and go on a rampage. When you get a heads-up that one is loose in the world, you'll have a brief window of time in which to track them down and temporarily send them back where they came from. Defeat them before they decide to return on their own, and you'll earn loot and save a few civilians, but be warned: they're extremely resilient and can deal a lot of damage, making them a challenge even for high-level players. And when you confront them in the afterlife – the final step in putting them to rest – they're far more powerful than they are in the living world, able to soak up tons of damage and annihilate Bayek's health with one or two special attacks, so be ready for some of the toughest fights in the game.
To combat these new terrors, Bayek's level cap has been raised to 55, and seven new abilities can now be unlocked. Some of these are buffs to other abilities, like Dash Boost, which rewards perfect dodges with a damage boost. There's also Overpower Fury, which heals Bayek and removes any status ailments when he unleashes an adrenaline-charged Overpower attack. Four new archery abilities make Bayek's bows even more versatile, as he can now infect Predator Bow kills with Flesh Decay, pierce shields with fully charged Hunter Bow shots, get more damage out of his Light Bows by scoring consecutive hits, or inflict bleed damage on any targets who survive his Warrior Bow blasts. Finally, Favor of Osiris rewards you for spending time in the afterlife by gradually refilling Bayek's tools and arrows while he's there. In all, the new skills require 15 Ability Points to unlock, so you'll want to keep an eye out for any glowing question marks on the map to help you earn them more quickly.
Curse of the Pharaohs will launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on March 13. It's included in the Season Pass for Assassin's Creed Origins, or can be purchased separately for $19.99. For more on Assassin's Creed Origins, check out our previous coverage.
